There are now contradicting rumors regarding Chelsea and Barcelona’s pursuit of Sevilla’s Jules Kounde.
On Saturday morning, Spanish journalist Gerard Romero tweeted, “This morning Barca and Sevilla have struck an AGREEMENT in principle for Jules Kounde.”
“Unless there is a natural disaster in the next few hours, the Sevilla center-back will be a Barça player.”
However, sources in Sevilla have branded such rumors as untrue, adding that “EVERYTHING that is COMING OUT in the LAST HOURS is FALSE,” as reported by numerous European sites, including talkSPORT.
The British press reported yesterday that the Sevilla center-back was set to join Chelsea, with the two clubs agreeing on a £55 million deal.
However, according to rumors in Spain this morning, Barcelona has hijacked the agreement overnight and he is now on his way to the Nou Camp.
“THE INFORMATION REGARDING KOUNDE’S TRANSFER TO BARCA IS COMPLETELY FALSE. El Chiringuito described them as “LIE” from SEVILLA.
In addition, Mundo Deportivo adds that Sevilla has had “zero contact” from Barcelona over their player.
“Koundé has always been in talks with both Chelsea and Barça in the last two weeks,” football transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano noted.
“Barcelona’s plan will not meet Chelsea’s requirements because it is “too high” – different structure;
“Chelsea submitted a formal proposal three days ago and is still waiting for the green light from Sevilla.”
