The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested a suspected vote-buyer in Ekiti State on Saturday, as the governorship election began.
The suspect was apprehended with a bag of cash by EFCC agents while “inducing voters.”
The suspect, who is said to be an agent of the ruling All Progressives Congress, was apprehended at Ola Oluwa Grammar School on Ilawe Road in Ado Ekiti.
INEC, the Independent National Electoral Commission, had issued a warning to voters ahead of the election.
INEC had previously warned of strict enforcement of rules prohibiting cash inducement of voters.
On Friday, the body announced its collaboration with anti-graft agencies the EFCC and the ICPC.
