Following the sale of Darwin Nunez to Liverpool, Benfica has turned to Nigerian forward Umar Sadiq.

Nunez, an Uruguayan striker, signed a €75 million deal with Liverpool on Tuesday.

According to the Spanish newspaper La Razon, the Primera Liga club has identified Sadiq as the ideal successor for Nunez.

Nunez was signed by Benfica from Almeria two years ago, and the Portuguese team is ready to attack the LaLiga club once more for their prized asset.

Last season, Sadiq scored 18 goals and added 12 assists to help the Rojiblancos gain promotion to LaLiga.

Valencia and Sevilla, both LaLiga clubs, are interested in signing the striker.

The 25-year-old has recently declared his desire to play in Spain’s top flight, but Almeria is willing to let him go for a fair price.
