David Adeleke, commonly known as Davido, a popular Nigerian artist, has declared that the next Osun State governorship election will not be like Ekiti State.

The Ekiti election took place over the weekend, amid allegations of vote-buying in the state.

Some parties, notably the Social Democratic Party’s (SDP) governorship candidate, Segun Oni, claimed that some citizens in Ado-Ekiti, Oye, were being paid to vote for certain political parties.

Kemi Elebute-Halle, the Action Democratic Party (ADP) candidate, also stated that other political parties are bribing voters with money.

Davido cautioned on Twitter that inhabitants of Osun State will legally reject any attempt to steal their ballots.

“Osun is not Ekiti, because our people would rightfully reject any attempt to loot them, as happened in 2018.” We will celebrate on July 16th!

“See you all shortly, but for the time being, back to tour.”

On March 22, 2018, the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, proclaimed Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress, APC, the victor of the Osun election.

Ademola Adeleke, Davido’s uncle, opposed the declaration, claiming he was deprived of his mandate.
