According to the Kremlin, the four European leaders visiting Kyiv have been requested to encourage Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to take a serious look at the situation rather than continue feeding Ukraine with weaponry.
“Promising weaponry supply will prolong the people’s pain.” As stated by NAN, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, “It would inflict greater damage to this country.”
As the presidents of Germany, France, Italy, and Romania visited Kyiv, the transfer of more sophisticated and heavier armaments remained a top priority.
Russia had frequently cautioned Western countries against arming Ukrainian forces, and the Russian military claimed to be destroying Western weapons in Ukraine on a daily basis.
Russian President Vladimir Putin also issued a warning to French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz about increasing armament sales to Ukraine.
He warned that it could lead to the country’s further destabilization.
Putin made his remarks during a three-way phone discussion with French and German leaders on Saturday, according to the Kremlin, in which he warned against additional Western arms deliveries to Ukraine.
He blamed Western sanctions for the conflict’s disruption of world food supplies.
Putin told Macron and Scholz that continuing to supply guns to Ukraine was “hazardous,” and he warned them of the “risks of further destabilization of the situation and worsening of the humanitarian disaster,” according to the Kremlin.
According to the German chancellor’s spokesperson, during the 80-minute call, Macron and Scholz advocated an immediate cease-fire in Ukraine and the evacuation of Russian soldiers from the country.
Russia warned that any attempt to “interfere” in Ukraine would be faced with a rapid response from Moscow, saying that Western weaponry supply to Ukraine posed a threat to European security.
“By itself, the trend of sending arms, notably heavy weaponry, to Ukraine and other countries endangers the continent’s security and causes instability,” Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said.
