Following the resignation of Malam Zubairu Massu, who defected to the New Nigeria Peoples Party, the Kano State House of Assembly elected Alhaji Kabiru Dashi (APC-Kiru) as its deputy speaker (NNPP).
According to NAN, Dashi was elected after being nominated by Mr. Sale Marke (APC-Dawakin-Tofa) at the plenary on Monday.
Mr. Nuhu Achika (APC-Wudil) seconded the motion, and the MPs confirmed his election as the next deputy speaker.
Malam Nasidi Aliyu, the director of house legal matters, quickly swore Dashi in at a plenary presided over by Speaker Hamisu Chidari.
Chidari congratulated Dashi on his election and promised him the support of the entire House.
In his acceptance speech, Dashi expressed gratitude to the House for considering him worthy of the new position.
