Mason Greenwood, a Manchester United footballer, was granted bail at a secret court and will be freed later today.
Remember that the 21-year-old was arrested for the first time in January when a lady alleged physical assaults on social media. He was charged with attempting to rape, assault, and controlling and coercive behavior.
He was eventually released on bail but was arrested in the Trafford area on Saturday for allegedly violating his first bail conditions.
After being detained last Saturday, he was remanded in custody after appearing in Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
Judge John Potter granted Mason Greenwood bail today after a brief hearing at Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court.
Greenwood was not in court this morning for the brief hearing, which was held in private, with the press compelled to observe from outside Court 4.
He must stay at his leased residence in Bowdon, Greater Manchester, and is not allowed to contact the complainant or a number of witnesses.
The forward, who has represented England once, has been forbidden from playing or training with United.
Nike suspended and later withdrew his sponsorship arrangement, while Electronic Arts announced that he had been removed from active squads in its FIFA 22 game.
