The Indigenous People of Biafra, or IPOB, have reacted to the attacks in Owo, Ondo State’s St Francis Catholic Church.
IPOB blamed Fulani terrorists for the attack, which killed roughly 50 people.
Emma Powerful, IPOB’s spokesman, encouraged Christians not to rely on the Nigerian government for their safety and security.
IPOB said in a statement issued by Powerful that Nigerian security agencies have only one interest: Fulanis.
“We, the global movement and family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), under the command and guidance of our great leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, condemn the Fulani terrorist’s attack on Catholic Church in Owo, Ogun state today, Sunday 5th of June 2022,” the statement says in part.
“The IPOB has frequently stated that Christians should stop relying on the Nigerian government for their safety and security; the reason being that the current regime only has one interest, and that is the Fulani’s interest.” Fulani terrorists posing as politicians and security agents are in charge of the Nigerian Army, Police, and other security agencies, and they are responsible for the recruitment of terrorists that slaughtered innocent Christians, Muslims, and non-Muslims.
“We also advise the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, to cease criticizing terrorist assaults from the Sahel or asking for God’s intervention and begin acting in defense of Nigerian Christians.” “CONDEMN” does not bring people back from the dead; therefore, we advise the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) that the only solution is to be ready to fight the terrorists and jihadists who have been funded by unfortunate politicians and the Nigerian government to eliminate every citizen in the country.”
IPOB asserted that the Eastern Security Network, or ESN, has the necessary training to combat terrorists wreaking havoc in the country’s south.
Politicians, priests, and Nigerians were urged to join the fight against insecurity, according to the group.
“Now that we have the appropriate personnel and ideal arrangements to preserve our territory, all children of God and religious organizations throughout Biafraland should embrace our appeal as a matter of urgency,” he continued.
