Nse Ikpe-Etim, a Nollywood actress, has confessed that she felt insecure as a woman after learning she couldn’t have children of her own.
In an interview with Chude Jideonwo, Nse stated this.
After being diagnosed with adenomyosis, the 47-year-old actress revealed she needed a hysterectomy (removal of the uterus) to reclaim her life.
“Finding out I couldn’t have children didn’t make me feel humiliated,” Nse replied when asked if she felt embarrassed about not being able to have children of her own. I felt insufficient.
“Because of how I was raised, I felt inadequate as a woman but not ashamed.”
“We don’t associate shame with ourselves where I come from.” We live life to the fullest where I grew up.”
“You never say never,” Nse replied when asked if she is open to adoption. “Right now, my husband and I just dog parents.”
“People should be allowed to exist; for now, my husband and I are OK.”
