Siyabonga Nene, better known as Big Zulu, is a South African rapper, songwriter, and actor. He rose to prominence after releasing the song “Donsa Nkabi” in 2016.

Nene Siyabonga was born in Bergville, KwaZulu-Natal, on April 7, 1987. As he grew up listening to Maskandi and Isichathamiya, he was influenced by the music of Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Phuzekemisi, and Imithente, among others.

After working as a cab driver for a while, Zulu decided to leave in 2008 to concentrate on his music career. In 2009, Back to the City organized a rap battle tournament, and he was crowned “King of Rap” for his songwriting and performance. His first single, “Donsa Nkabi,” was released in 2016.
