Yul Edochie has advised Nigerians on how to avoid being “harassed” on the road by police personnel. When a BNXN harassed a police officer, he said this.
The controversial filmmaker remarked on Twitter that humility is essential for a successful road journey free of harassment from men in uniform.
“I take a lot of road trips, I’ve met a lot police officers on the road, and they’ve never harassed me before,” he wrote. Humility is the key.
Maintain your ‘don’t you know who I am’ attitude.
You are a citizen, just like everyone else.
“Na police will hail you pass once you humble yourself.”
He made the statement following the announcement by Lagos State Police Command spokesperson Ben Hundeyin that artist Daniel Benson, commonly known as BNXN, will face punishment for beating a police officer.
On Wednesday, a viral video on Twitter featured the rapper in an altercation with Nigerian Police Force personnel.
BNXN, formerly known as Buju, said in now-deleted tweets that he was involved in a confrontation with authorities and spitting on an officer.
“I smacked a cop in the face, and it felt fantastic.” You let yourself into my car and then dragged and shredded my garments before slapping me? Everyone must come to a halt!” He wrote in the deleted post
In response to the incident, Hundeyin stated on Twitter that if the police personnel are found to be wrongdoing, they will face punishment.
He tweeted screenshots of BNXN’s post and warned that the musician will “definitely” face charges for allegedly assaulting a police officer.
“@BNXN gleefully tweeted that he spat on the face of a cop and it felt great.” Later, he erased the message.
“If proven, the police officers will face consequences for their misbehavior, whereas @BNXN will surely face consequences for his assault on a police officer,” Hundeyin tweeted on Wednesday.
