In a talk with Kemi Filani, Chidinma Ekile said that she went on a three-month retreat, prayed and fasted on a mountain top, and received guidance from God.

She claimed to have taken a sabbatical from social media and everything else in order to focus solely on God.

“THE WHOLE JOURNEY WASN’T EASY, IT WAS A LOT OF WORK WHILE ON THE RETREAT, AT SOME POINTS, I WAS TIRED AND WANTED TO RUN AWAY, IT WAS OVERWHELMING… I KNEW IT WAS TIME WHEN THE SPIRITUAL EXERCISE TOLD ME IT WAS TIME BECAUSE I DID NOT WANT TO DO IT WITHOUT GOD.

I DID NOT HAVE A PHONE WITH ME AT THE TIME, SO I WOULD GO UP TO THE MOUNTAIN TOP AND PRAY, AND ONE OF THOSE TIMES I GOT TIRED AND STARTED HEARING VOICES, AND THE ONE THAT WAS CLEAR TO ME AT THE TIME WAS THE ONE THAT TOLD ME TO JUMP OFF THE CLIFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, I MOVED CLOSER AND I HAD ALREADY EXTENDED MY ARMS TO JUMP, BUT THEN I FELT A BARRICADE THAT WASN’T NATURALLY THERE… THESE WERE A FEW OF THE EXPERIENCES THAT PERSUADED ME THAT IT WAS TIME.”
